Department of Electronic Classroom Support Services
Provide excellent customer service and training to university members in classrooms that are maintained by the Department of Electronic Classroom Support Services. Support high demand situations in a timely, effective and courteous manner. Install multimedia equipment, removing and reinstalling substitute A/V or computer equipment. The selected candidate will enhance department's reputation by accepting ownership and accomplishing new and different requests.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide timely and effective support to various university constituents using audio, video, or computer equipment.
Provide web conference and lecture/classroom capture support to faculty, staff, and students.
Evaluate old equipment in order to prioritize repairs and upgrades.
Installation of AMX control units and touch panels, Extron audio/video equipment, and Dell computer hardware.
Installation, termination, and testing of audio/video cabling using proper procedures and standards.
Communicate orally and in writing with faculty, UCIT staff, University college/department, personnel (e.g. to obtain and disseminate information, resolve discrepancies, respond to customer concerns, and to offer training to users on audio/video equipment, etc.).
Maintain departmental inventory of AV/IT equipment.
Test equipment and interpretation of test results.
Assist in building and integrating new instructor workstations, as new classrooms require.
Obtain and or maintain certifications in related technical fields.
Ability to be flexible in responding to changes in schedules and job priorities.
Special projects as assigned by direct manager.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related degree; -OR- an Associate's degree with two (2) years' experience ; -OR- four (4) years of basic to intermediate level computer hardware related experience.
Possesses working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures and contributes through support, using established processes, methods, and systems.
Bachelor's degree in Electronic Media, Electronic Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in supporting use and maintaining/troubleshooting electronic classroom presentation equipment using smart control systems (i.e., AMX or Crestron), such as data projectors, document cameras, audio/video matrix routers.
Ability to interpret schematics and architectural drawings, demonstrate experience with recent version of Windows OS and MS Office suite products, and understand basic networking
Ability to acquire additional skills to maintain technical and professional skills.
InfoComm CTS certification preferred
This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
