Full Time 40 hours Grade 079 Medicine M&D-Nephrology Div Schedule 8 AM-4:30 PM Responsibilities Under some supervision and with latitude for exercising independent technical judgment, is responsible for carrying out complex research procedures related to protein purification, DNA cloning, mammalian and insect cell culture, and Luminex assay to test human and rodent sera. Plans, develops and conducts new experimental protocols. Some work with rodent colonies, including euthanasia. Ability to perform and co-ordinate multiple tasks on a daily basis. Some rodent and human primary B and T cell isolation and culture. Will also ensure maintenance of laboratory supplies, equipment and proper disposal of all materials. Responsibilities: Performing intricate and complex chemical assays and bioassays involving protein expression and purification, DNA cloning, Luminex assay, and mammalian and insect cell culture. Independently documenting of experiment protocols, collecting and analyzing scientific data using computerized software, including uploading experimental data to the laboratory database and server for further analysis and dissection. Independently maintain rodent colonies, and operating mouse immunization and collecting sera. Operating and maintaining complex experimental equipment including Luminex reader, ELISA reader, spectrophotometer, pH meter, PCR machines, and the like. Preparing charts, graphs, and tables in preparation for publication. Presenting experimental results at laboratory meetings and local/national gatherings. Maintaining an accurate electronic inventory of laboratory supplies, chemicals and reagents. Supervising 1-2 Undergraduate, Co-Op students and other junior personnel in focused areas of research projects and enabling graduate and postdoctoral research efforts as necessary. Requirements Minumum of an Associateâ™s degree in science or a related field. Prefer Bachelorâ™s degree. At least 4-5 years related experience involving direct bench work required.. Molecular experience including DNA cloning and purification, PCR as well as protein purification highly desirable. Experience with tissue culture, mouse work and/or multiplex assays desirable. Computer skills with Excel and Adobe graphics software, and/or bioinformatics experience also desirable.
