The Senior Utilities Instrumentation Technician, under general supervision, assists in the supervision of and performs highly skilled technical work in the maintenance, inspection, adjustment, calibration, and repair of pneumatic and electronic control system equipment.
Required Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Six years of experience in instrumentation maintenance in an industrial plant, chemical plant or utility plant.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Texas Class âœCâ drivers license or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment and is subject to yearly Motor Vehicle Record/driver license checks.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to troubleshoot and repair sophisticated control systems.
Read and update P&ID drawings to optimize plant operation.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Education & Experience:
Training from a military, accredited institution, or graduation from an apprenticeship program on boilers, turbines, steam, energy, power, heat transfer and power plant instrumentation, control and monitoring systems.
Experience in distribution process control, supervisory control and data acquisition, double effect absorption chillers.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
ISA CCST Level 1 Certificate.
Compensation: $24.12 - $31.00/ hour
Troubleshoot all instrumentation and control systems. This may require driving a University vehicle to utility satellite plants.
Perform preventative maintenance duties for all systems.
Maintain documentation of all repairs, calibrations, control points, and alarm & trip points of each piece of equipment.
Adjust, calibrate, and tune equipment.
Assist in the overhaul of gas and steam turbine generators, boilers, absorption and centrifugal chillers, pumps, motors, and other equipment.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, stand for extended periods of time, and will frequently be required to lift heavy materials.
Contributes to a safe work environment by reporting accidents and unsafe working conditions, uses proper personal protective equipment, follows safety procedures outlined in Material Safety Data Sheets, and participates in safety training.
