Reporting to the Executive Director, Technology and Projects, the manager will assist with the development and implementation of technology-based security solutions for departments on the Morningside, CUMC, Manhattanville campuses, and other Columbia owned/operated buildings in the NY metro area. The incumbent will work with the Executive Director of Investigations, Director of Technology Systems and Director of each Campus Operations to ensure that any proposed security program supports the needs of investigative staff, is compatible with existing systems, and enhances the safety and security of the Columbia community. The Manager, Technology Projects will interact with faculty and senior executives of the University in design/development meetings to assess their security needs and effectively communicate the proposed risk oriented, cost-effective solutions. The Manager will work with CU Service Technicians, Investigators and outside contractors in implementing security technology which will include but not be limited to, access control, security locks and digital CCTV cameras. The incumbent will assess the budgeting and staffing requirements of each project and ensure that the necessary resources are properly allocated. The Manager will handle multiple on-going projects in each location.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience required. A minimum of three to five years experience required; preferably in assessing security risk and developing appropriate cost effective electronic security solutions. In-depth knowledge of electronic/physical security solutions including, but not limited to electronic locking hardware, large enterprise access control systems, CCTV, and networked digital CCTV recording systems essential. Computer proficiency using Excel, Word, Power Point and project management software is required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications: Supervisory experience as well as experience managing multiple large scale security projects is desired. Proficiency in using AutoCAD systems and interpreting architectural drawings is strongly desired. Familiarity with non-profit / higher education accounting and business processes is helpful. Excellent communication and presentation skills are extremely important. Candidate should have excellent customer service, follow-up skills and experience working with internal and external clients.
