JOB SUMMARY: The General Manager is a member of the StarCenter management team who leads the physical operation of the StarCenter facilities and has the working knowledge of all the facilities from top to bottom, inside and out. They have the ability to construct, diagnose, repair/replace, advise, train, and mentor in all issues regarding to facilities implementations and maintenance.
RESPONSBILITIES: In charge of the management and delegation of all issues relating to the facilities management in Euless, Farmers Branch, Frisco, Mansfield, McKinney, Plano and Richardson (Ice plant, HVAC, cooling towers, electrical, carpentry, lighting, painting, machine servicing, maintenance of the ice, Zamboni, locks/keys, door closers, elevators, fire systems, irrigation systems, energy systems, etc.)
In co-ordination with the Frisco Arena GM and operations team, directs the management of the event “setups” of the Frisco Arena by converting the bowl floor to/from hockey, basketball, concert and other configurations; complete setups in a timely and organized manner
Parts and materials procurement for specific tasks and projects
Overseeing the routine preventative maintenance and keeping schedules and records of said maintenance.
Select, manage and oversee maintenance work performed by outside vendors/contractors for all locations Design Implement an inventory tracking system of building tools, machinery, and building equipment
Interview, hire and supervise all Operations Directors and Managers
Create new cost-effective performance concepts creating lower overheads through team efforts Assure all ice re-surfacing standards and training programs are being met
Continuously review all facilities’ needs and make recommendations to the VP of StarCenters
Collaborate with rink General Managers in the preparation preparing annual rink- and corporate-level operations budgets and capital expenses and work to achieve them
Point of contact for all construction, renovation and equipment changes and/or purchases
Available on call 24/7 to handle or delegate all maintenance emergencies
Lead, advise, train in the overall cleanliness of the inside and outside of the facilities, the mechanical areas, and the equipment
Directs each Centers’ ice metrics collection, reporting and action to maintain operations within acceptable boundaries Manage issue and incident tracking, response and resolution within specified timeframes as reported through the Operations Help Desk email system
Create and maintain a 5-year cap-ex plan for each facility
With respect to the physical structure and operations, ensure all facilities maintain compliance with all applicable municipal, state and federal regulations and with all applicable City lease obligations.
Knowledge of functions, operations and equipment of a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility
Must have strong working knowledge of ice plant, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical and computer energy management systems
Knowledge of safety practices and all applicable safety standards for public facilities
Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise the operational activities with full-time Directors, Managers and part-time maintenance staff
Ability to record, communicate and function as an administrator in the facility
Knowledge of industry First Aid and safety procedures
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, subordinates, arena tenants, and the public
4+ years in sports and entertainment venue operations management strongly preferred
Ice Maintenance and Equipment Operation (IMEO) certification
Basic Arena Refrigeration ( BAR) certification
Ice Making and Painting Technologies (IMPT) certification
A reputation and track record of keen ability to deal successfully with managing projects, staff and other corporate stakeholders
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
The position may require extended work hours, particularly nights and weekends, in conjunction with events and tenant activities in order to make the venue a success and to retain and extend event business. The position requires constant visitation to and patrolling of the facilities and surrounding grounds to remain familiar and present with personnel and facility issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit, use hands and fingers, work with industrial tools and heavy machinery and/or demonstrate their use, handle objects and office tools, perform office and administrative work using computers and other electronic devices, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
