1. Perform skilled maintenance and repair services in various buildings while working independently and occasionally supervising Facility Maintenance Technicians with less demonstrated skills. 2. Display a working knowledge on basic refrigeration cycle, types and functions, and the methods of maintenance and repair of air condition and refrigeration systems. 3. Overhauls small reciprocal compressors independently. 4. Overhaul larger reciprocal, absorption, and centrifugal compressors. 5. Check accuracy and calibrate electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems. 6. Wire, control, build and install ductwork and chilled water piping. 7. Remove and replace joints or lengths of pipe in chilled water distribution systems.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1. Two years' experience in in the installation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant facilities. 2. HVAC knowledge of basic refrigeration cycle, types and functions, and the methods of maintenance and repair of air condition and refrigeration systems. 3. EPA 608 Refrigeration Certificate. 4. Electrical knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of electrical systems. 5. NC Electrical license or Journeyman card preferred. 6.Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension). 7.Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications, however excellent communication skills are preferred. 8.Computer literate. 9.Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. 10.Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 11.Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork with co-workers, visitors, building occupants, and the entire campus community. 12.Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
