Primary Purpose: Responsible for installation, repair, design, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and electronic alarm systems.
Essential Functions: 1. Designs, inspects, maintains, installs, services, and tests fire alarm and security systems and devices.
2. Coordinates repairs and installation of fire alarms systems with outside vendors and University Departments.
3. Advises and recommends alarm equipment and devices and improvements to alarm systems.
4. Maintains all assigned equipment, tools and supplies.
5. Prepares purchase orders and procures equipment, supplies, and tools.
6. Prepares reports documenting shift activities and processes request for repair and installation work.
7. Backs up lock shop.
8. Responds to emergence call backs when requested on a twenty four hour, seven day a week, 365 day a year basis.
9. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Preferred Qualifications: Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
Alarm systems, computer skills, and building and fire codes, electrical installation skills.
Knowledge of electronic concepts.
Work experience with fire alarm system installation.

Frequent sitting, standing, walking around campus and use of computers requiring extended periods of sitting with repetitive hand/wrist motion. Occasional bending, squatting, kneeling and crawling and reaching above shoulders. May be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.

Requires asbestos and respiratory fit testing.
Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range: Min $17.17 per hour to Mid $22.48 per hour, non-exempt
