This position supports the Project Manager and Service Manager to accomplish inspections of new installations, commissioning, trouble shooting, regular maintenance and repairs of residential and commercial solar systems. This person must have extensive knowledge of solar systems, equipment, installation best practices and national electrical code (NEC) as well as excellent customer facing skills. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Service Manager and based in our Santa Fe, NM office.
Arrange for and completes inspections of newly installed systems – call in inspections; meet inspector as necessary; arrange access; escalate inspector issues when they contradict Positive Energy Solar best practices; perform appropriate corrections when possible; update status in NetSuite.
Commission newly installed systems.
Provide feedback to Field Manager on quality issues identified on installations.
Respond to calls for service by coordinating with the customer as soon as possible after receiving the request for service; prepare for the service call to minimize travel and customer inconvenience, document service work as it is completed and update the case in Netsuite; update Service Manager of results of service call.
Support installations by performing tasks as assigned generally including unique tasks that can be accomplished by one person including: rough in; electrical service work; data monitoring commissioning; corrections.
Coordinate with Materials and Service Manager to support return of equipment that a failed under warranty including: document case number; report authorized RMA; submit service paperwork; update NetSuite with necessary RMA information.
Create case in NetSuite for service calls as necessary. Update NetSuite with case status after each service call.
Ability to organize time; travel to multiple sites daily; manage multiple issues at the same time; and respond to rapidly changing demands.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with inspectors.
Maintain stock on the service truck and ensuring it is always clean, serviceable and organized.
Plan materials needed for service calls; identify new products to solve technical issues.
Job duties may vary as necessary to best support the business.
Travel to job sites required.

Education: Associates degree in electronics, PV, or electrical trades
NABCEP Installer Certification
3-5 years of experience in solar installations
Journeyman electrician – required to have or obtain within 6 months in the position
Experience with a wide variety of solar equipment and racking including data monitoring; trackers; roof mounts; micro inverters, optimizers, string inverters, and grid tied battery backup systems
Understanding of solar fundamentals to allow quick assessment of reported problem and system operation
Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills
Strong written communication skills, and ability to use computers and software programs with proficiency
Successful completion of motor vehicle record checks and ability to operate motor vehicles safely and legally
Must furnish own basic electrical tool set
Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, squat, kneel, walk on uneven surfaces, work with hand tools, work outside in inclement weather
Ability to work on a computer and at a desk for multiple hours during the day
