UWMC PHARMACY has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME PHARMACY TECHNICIAN LEAD, AMBULATORY (Day Shifts). Under the direction of the Manager, the Pharmacy Technician Lead regularly assigns and coordinates the technical and distribution functions in the Ambulatory Pharmacy areas. This position will lead staff pharmacy technicians and others in daily operations of the pharmacy; schedule pharmacy technician staff; coordinate training of new staff pharmacy technicians; develop and implement procedures and programs; and perform technical and distributive pharmacy technician duties.
Direct the instruction and training of pharmacy technicians regarding technical and distributive functions in the Ambulatory pharmacies.
Participate in development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental policies.
Direct the work of interns, students, and pharmacy technicians in the Ambulatory pharmacies.
Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws and regulations.
Assure that policies and procedures are updated and followed in coordination with the Pharmacy Operations Manager and Technician Manager.
Ensure adequate medication inventory is stocked and coordinate ordering of supplies.
Participate in process improvement programs, including implementing, evaluating, and monitoring of new programs and initiatives.
Provide assistance and support to the pharmacy staff working on third-party billing issues.
Consult with the Pharmacy Operations Manager and Technician Manager for periodic peer review and evaluation.
Assist the Technician Manager in maintaining accurate records of hours worked, sick leave, and vacation requests for the Ambulatory pharmacy Staff.
Assure pharmacy technician staff development, new employee orientation, and training in coordination with the Technician Manager, Operations Lead Pharmacist, and Operations Manager.
Schedule Ambulatory technician staff.
Coordinate student and volunteer assignments, training, and evaluation of the Ambulatory pharmacy areas in coordination with the Operations Lead Pharmacist.
Perform the duties of a Pharmacy Technician 2.
Maintain effective communications with administrative staff of the Department of Pharmacy and other UWMC departments.
Perform related duties as required.
One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician 2 OR equivalent education/experience. LEGAL REQUIREMENT: State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Familiarity and experience using Windows and Windows-based software applications, electronic mail, and networked personal computers and printers.
Effectively use departmental computer systems.
Knowledge of automated pharmacy systems or the willingness to learn.
Experience with IV admixture and chemotherapy preparation or the willingness to learn.
Customer service orientation.
Ability to work independently.
