The CCMR currently supports three Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs) and a number of smaller 'seed' research groups through an NSF MRSEC grant and Cornell University support. Supporting CCMR and other research are the CCMR Shared Facilities which offer world-class materials analysis and processing equipment overseen by expert instrument managers. The CCMR facilities are dedicated to the microstructural analysis and characterization of metallic, ceramic, and polymeric materials, thin films and surfaces and support hundreds of campus researchers each year and external researchers from industry/academia.
The Cornell Center for Materials Research (CCMR) has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic research scientist specializing in X ray diffraction/crystallography and/or surface analysis (XPS), and with knowledge of other techniques such as optical spectroscopy, electron microscopy and more. This technician will be responsible for maintenance, training and development of analytical equipment primarily in the CCMR Materials Facility.
