MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE
The role of this position is primarily to design and supervise the layout of electronic circuits for the company’s next generation core sensors and its current peripheral boards that are based upon an SDR architecture, including ADC/DAC front end, clocking subsystem, a joint FPGA/Computational block with DDR, as well as various I/O peripherals (USB, Ethernet, UART, etc.).
The PCB Design Engineer will be responsible for designing complex PCB designs. The engineer will be the primary driver for the entire PCB design process from fleshing out core block diagrams that will be provided from by senior personnel/have been detailed in proposals through schematic capture all the way to assembly and testing for complex designs. Additional responsibilities will include coordinating Junior level Engineers and Technicians as they assemble BOMs for manufacture, checking peer schematic capture, as well as assessing EMI, constraints of for circuit function, optimization of component placement, and mechanical design. The engineer may also assist with component obsolescence issues, technology refresh, value engineering and performance improvement initiatives. The mix of simple to complex PCB work will likely be 20/80 from the perspective of effort.
Design support and core Mixed Signal, Clocking, and Computational circuits for complex SDR type embedded assets
Prepare PCB documentation including schematic diagrams, layouts, assembly drawings and Bill of Material utilizing CAD system (DxDesigner/PADs)
Work with engineers to insure optimal component placement as well as meeting any specific routing requirements
Create documentation for the manufacture and fabrication of PCBs following accepted industry and proprietary internal standards
Support R&D Engineering teams in regular design reviews and meetings.
Lead design reviews of board designs
Generate new component symbols and geometries for CAD library.
Manage and sustain existing CAD/PCB libraries.
Provide Librarian Support Services for DxDesigner/PADs, etc
Assist in the complex PCB design process including schematic capture, component selection, procurement, etc.
Develop test and evaluation procedures for completed boards, conduct advanced test and evaluation procedures, validate basic test and evaluation procedures.
Required: Master's Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical (Physics also accepted with significant experience)
-Master’s Degree or Graduate Level coursework in high frequency/RF circuit layout and EMI
-3+ years of experience in circuit design
-Experience with PCB layout incorporating multi-layer, surface mount and through-hole technology
-2-5 years proven experience in PCB schematic capture and layout, preferably in DxDesigner/PADs
-An understanding of PCB technology, materials and fabrication, including RF boards
-Excellent Time Management and Organizational skills
